2000-P Sacagawea Dollar (2000-Present)

Intriguing History

In an early 2000 promotion, roughly 5,500 brand-new Sacagawea dollars were inserted into boxes of Cheerios cereal to help launch the coin, and years later collectors discovered that many of those "Cheerios dollars" carried a more finely detailed eagle tail-feather design than coins struck for general release, turning a cereal-box promotional item into a genuine modern rarity.
