By 1921, the Roaring Twenties were transforming American life -- Prohibition, ratified in 1920 the same year women won the right to vote, pushed drinking underground even as jazz, radio, and a booming stock market defined a decade of restless, headlong consumer optimism. This Peace dollar, issued to commemorate the end of World War I, was struck during exactly this period.
