By 1921, the Roaring Twenties were transforming American life -- Prohibition, ratified in 1920 the same year women won the right to vote, pushed drinking underground even as jazz, radio, and a booming stock market defined a decade of restless, headlong consumer optimism. This Walking Liberty half dollar, Adolph Weinman's design later reused for the modern Silver Eagle, was struck during exactly this period. This one came from the Denver Mint, which opened in 1906 to strike coin from Rocky Mountain gold and silver.
